Paul Walker Says Brazilian People Were 'Excited' To Host 'Fast Five'
'I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured,' he tells MTV News.

For those heading to the theaters this weekend to see the action-packed, souped-up-car-gasmic "Fast Five," there are only a few things you should know going in: The cast is teeming with members from all four previous films (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris are all back) and the movie was filmed all over the world, including in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Georgia and California, but mainly in and around the illustrious city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — including the storied and dangerous favela districts.
When MTV News caught up with Walker, we asked him how the crew managed to get clearance to film in such tough areas.
"That's the best part about the job, is we have a VIP card," Walker said of the production's exempt status. "For most people, especially the tourists, the favela is off limits, but we got permission basically from the drug lords to come up there and film," he revealed. "We got cops with us, but everyone knows the reason we're there isn't because the cops said, 'Go ahead and come up and in'; it's the cooperation with the drug lords."
Walker said he hung out with people from the area, as did the film crew, and everyone had a great time during the shoot.
"That's one of the best aspects of my job. I'm up there hanging out, and the people are friendly and I don't have anything to worry about. People are just excited we're there," he said. "I love to travel, and that's one of those places that, on my own, I would have never have ventured, but because we're here doing this, it made it all possible."

30 Seconds To Mars Reveal New Single To Be 'Night Of The Hunter'
Band broke the news about fan-favorite track during our 30STM 'State of the Union' live stream.
By James Montgomery
30 Seconds to Mars
Photo: Sohyung Kang/ MTV News
During our "State of the Union" live stream on Thursday night, 30 Seconds to Mars spoke at length about their past (Jared Leto's Kurt Cobain fascination), their present (Friday's headlining slot at the Bamboozle Festival) and, of course, their future.
And when it came time to discuss that last point, they took the opportunity to break a bit of news: They'd chosen "Night of the Hunter" as the next single off This Is War. And yes, they're very happy about it. Because, ever since they released their album in late 2009, they've been battling to get the song heard.
"We never thought this would happen, but we think it's going to be our next single in the States. There's always a song that fans latch onto, that the real music-lovers and the listeners [latch onto]," 30STM frontman Jared Leto told MTV News. "And this is the one, early on ... when we asked, 'What do you think should be a single?' [fans] always mention this, but people didn't quite think that this was the one at the time — some of the people at the record company or at radio stations — but they've warmed up to it, and now it's really fun to have a song that's eclectic and different to be a single."
In short, it's the kind of song a band has to earn the right to release. And 30STM have certainly done that. So now, their favorite track — Leto said it "encapsulates everything about 30 Seconds to Mars that we are interested in, musically" — is set to be released to radio ... with an appropriately epic video, of course.
"I would love to make a video for 'Night of the Hunter,' because I think it's one of the most cinematic songs on the record; when we play it live onstage, it always evokes imagery to me," Leto said. "The song really grew from ... my brother and I were born in Louisiana, we had a single mom ... who, at the time, was a high school dropout living in the South, [so we] really didn't have very much in terms of materialistic things. And although we moved out of the South when we were kids — you know, we joke we kind of climbed out of the muddy banks of the Mississippi River with food stamps in one hand and our instruments in the other — our mother helped carve a new life for us. And I think that song has some spirit of the South in it; some kind of American Gothic feel."
Are you glad to hear there will be a video for "Night of the Hunter"? Tell us in the comments!

'Water for Elephants' helmer Francis Lawrence opens up about shooting the diva's video.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Francis Lawrence confirmed to MTV News at the "Water for Elephants" premiere on Sunday that he had just wrapped up work on Beyoncé's new video. And the director promised that this clip will live up to the expectations that have been building since photos from the set began leaking.
"I just shot a Beyoncé video at the beginning of this last week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, which was fun, and I hadn't done a video since 2009," he said, referring to the VMA-winning video for Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."
Lawrence went on to confirm a few more details about the song, without giving away too much of anything, per B's orders. "The video's for the songs 'Girls'; it's off her new album," he said. "She would probably have me shot if I said anything. ... Some stuff spilled out, but she wasn't happy about it, so I've been sworn to secrecy."
What spilled was some looks from the video, as well as details that there will be lots of dancing in the clip. "It'll be big, it'll probably be one of the bigger Beyoncé music videos ever done," he added. "And, I can say that I think the song is unbelievable."
The director noted that artists have definitely stepped up their video game in recent years and once again made visuals a vital part of their work. He gives some credit for that to Lady Gaga, as well as a number of Lawrence's past collaborators, like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and the Black Eyed Peas.
"The Gaga thing took me by surprise, 'cause I've done videos for probably 15 years, and I had forgotten what it felt like to have a video premiere and have it be anticipated and have it explode," he explained. "And yeah I hope the same for Beyoncé, but I don't know if that's gonna happen. It is a fantastic song, so I really hope that song catches for her, and I think the video's gonna be really fun and cool and different for her."

Lady Gaga Debuts 'Glee' Clip From 'Born This Way' Episode
Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment.

"Glee" is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they'll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance.
Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they'll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer's hit "Born This Way."
Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment.
"Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance," he says.
Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don't accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing "Born This Way."
"We're going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We're going to perform her anthem to acceptance, 'Born This Way,' " he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause.
Back in January, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes. "I love that that song is [an] anthem," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song."

Will Matt Lauer & Katie Couric Reunite on TV?
Could one of TV's most adorable twosomes be reuniting?
Now that Katie Couric has officially announced that she will be leaving the CBS Evening News, sources are buzzing that she may team up with old pal Matt Lauer for a new gig. While it looks like Couric will be getting her own syndicated talk show, Lauer may be looking for a new home if he decides to leave the Today show when his contract expires in 2012. And it seems like Katie would love to have her former cohost back by her side.
"Matt and I have undeniable chemistry in the most platonic sense of the word," Couric told People.com. "We are like an old, married couple. We finish each other's sentences. He is very committed to the Today show. But who knows?"
As of right now, Lauer insists he's not looking for a new job. On Tuesday night, he appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and said, "I love my job. I have a long term contract. I'm not going anywhere."
Still, Couric says reteaming with Matt is always a possibility.
"You never know what the future may bring," she says. "We may work together. It's hard to say right now. We have a fun repartee."

So a Lady and Her Monkey Walk Into a Petsmart...
I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.
Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that's just something you don't see every day.
I proceeded to take a photo...
...but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:
Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.
When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, "You really are crazy." I was like, "I'm crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS."
I mean, for real, let's put this into perspective.
Anywho, here's another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:
I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don't walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers
'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

MTV Movie Awards Host Jason Sudeikis: Everything You Need To Know!
'Saturday Night Live' regular and star of 'Horrible Bosses' has bona fide comedic chops.
By Kara Warner
Jason Sudeikis

Congrats are in order for "Saturday Night Live" star Jason Sudeikis, who has just been announced as our newest MTV Movie Awards host. Sudeikis will be hosting the consistently star-studded and unpredictable event live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on June 5. So for those who haven't been following the comedic actor's every move since he began his successful career, here's a few handy Sudeikis facts and figures to help explain why he's the perfect choice to lead our 20th annual Movie Awards.
Before getting his big break on "SNL," Sudeikis performed in several improv troupes in Kansas City, Chicago and Las Vegas. In fact, he was a founding member of Second City Las Vegas, where he was eventually snatched up by "SNL" to be a sketch writer in 2003. He became a full-fledged castmember in 2006 and had memorable turns impersonating the likes of "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks and Vice President Joe Biden.
In recent years, Sudeikis has been carving a name for himself outside of the comforts of his "SNL" family. In addition to a guest appearance on "30 Rock" as ("SNL" alum) Tina Fey's love interest Floyd, Sudeikis has appeared in a slew of feature films: "What Happens in Vegas," "The Bounty Hunter," "Going the Distance," "Hall Pass" and the upcoming flicks "Horrible Bosses" and "A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy." He also currently lends his voice to "The Cleveland Show," as Holt Richter and Terry Kimple. With all these eclectic acting tricks in his bag, Sudeikis is guaranteed to keep the MTV audience entertained come June 5.
"I'm sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year, and I look forward to keeping the streak of flawless and critically lauded Movie Awards show hosting in 2011 alive," Sudeikis said about the gig.
The MTV Movie Awards nominees — based on your votes at MovieAwards.MTV.com — will be announced on May 3, at which point you'll be able to vote for your favorite films and stars in categories like Best Fight, Best Kiss, Biggest Badass Star, Best Villain and, of course, Best Movie. Voting will continue through June 4, though Best Movie will remain open throughout the live ceremony on June 5 — meaning you'll have a chance to affect the night's biggest prize until the very last minute.
The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET.

Gwyneth Paltrow: My Grandmother "Was a Real C*nt!"
Yikes! If you still had any ideas in your head that Gwyneth Paltrow was some sort of demure little flower, we're about to ruin that vision. The actress appeared on E!'s Chelsea Lately Monday night, where she had some choice words for her own grandmother!
After both Paltrow and host Chelsea Handler realized that they both called their grandmothers "Mutti" (the German word for "Mommy"), the ladies commiserated on the rocky relationships they had with these women.
"My Mutti was a real b*tch," Handler, 36, told the actress.
But, Paltrow one-upped the comedian but coming back even stronger.
"My Mutti was a real c*nt!" she said. "She just hated my guts, basically. She tried to poison my mother against me, but it didn't work because I have a great mother (Blythe Danner, 68). She was just tough."
Whoa, Gwyneth! That's not the kind of a language you'd expect out of this Oscar winner, is it? But the actress went on to explain why she thinks her granny acted the way she did.
"You look back and you think she must not have been very happy and she must have had a lot of pain, because she was mean as hell," the actress added.
Fortunately the nastiness wasn't passed down, and Paltrow says that her mom is an amazing grandmother to her two kids (with husband Chris Martin), Apple, 6, and Moses, 5. Still, Danner didn't necessarily want the stigma of an old-lady grandma.
"She was adamant that she did not want to be called grandma. And who can blame her? My mom's hot and she didn't want to be called grandma," Paltrow laughed. "She decided she was going to be called 'Woof.' So she kept trying to make the 'Woof' thing stick. It's even her email address."
But Paltrow's daughter had her own moniker in mind for her grandma.
"Apple just wasn't having it and one day she was just like, 'Lalo!' And that was it," Paltrow said. "She's Lalo."

Beyonce No Longer Managed By Father, Mathew Knowles
'I've only parted ways with my father on a business level,' singer says.
By Gil Kaufman

Artists cut ties with managers all the time. But when your shot-caller is your dad and he's helped you climb the ladder of fame to the very top, things can be a bit trickier.
After years of rumors, Beyoncé confirmed on Monday that she is parting ways with the man who helped make her an international pop diva: dad Mathew Knowles. According to CNN, the split was amicable and both sides said it was a mutual decision. "I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," Beyoncé, 29, said in a statement released on Monday. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me ... I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."
Mathew Knowles began managing Beyoncé's career when she was a teenager and shepherded her through her mega-success with Destiny's Child in the late 1990s and into her even bigger career as a solo artist, which has garnered her 16 Grammy Awards and millions in sales for her three post-DC albums. Her mother, Tina, is Beyoncé's stylist and is heavily involved in their clothing line, House of Dereon.
"The decision for Beyoncé and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual," Mathew Knowles said in a separate statement also released on Monday. "We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment."
It was not announced who would take over management duties for Beyoncé, but Knowles said his record label would instead focus on gospel and inspirational artists. "Business is business and family is family," Knowles continued. "I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success."
Among the artists who are listed on the Music World Entertainment site are Juanita Bynum, From Above, Pastor Rudy, the Bamaz, Beyoncé's younger sister, Solange, and Trin-I-Tee 5:7. Knowles also used to manage former Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, but they parted ways with him, respectively, in 2009 and 2010.
Mathew and Tina Knowles divorced in 2009 after 29 years of marriage. Beyoncé is reportedly close to finishing work on the follow-up to 2008's I Am ... Sasha Fierce, which could include contributions from Sia and Sleigh Bells, along with Ne-Yo, S1, Jim Jonsin, Sean "The Pen" Garrett, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Killer Mike Talks Reconciling With Big Boi
Mike describes relationship with Outkast MC as 'a brotherhood.'
By Rob Markman
Thinking back to his past beef with Outkast's Big Boi, Killer Mike (also known as Mike Bigga) admitted to MTV News that the tiff was sad for him, but now that the two have buried the hatchet, fans can expect more collaborations and a new group.
"It's a brotherhood more than a friendship," Mike said.
The feud, stemming back to 2006, began after Killer, who was signed to Big Boi's Purple Ribbon label, became disenfranchised with the business side of things. The road to repairing the friendship began in 2008, and according to Mike, transpired over three phases. Now that things are completely patched up, Mike and Big Boi announced in February that they will be forming a new group, rounding out a trio with Atlanta rapper and Maybach Music signee Pill.
Phase one of their reconciliation took place when Big Boi's son Cross encouraged his dad to patch things up with his former friend. "My children love him, his children love me, so it's kinda hard to stay an a--hole when my children are telling me, 'Don't be an a--hole, dad,' and his kids was telling him that," Mike explained.
He credits the second phase of the patch-up to Atlanta-based hip-hop journalist Maurice Garland. "He got [Big Boi and I] together, and we started listening to each other's album, and I was like, 'Sh--, I gotta step it up,' " Mike recalled. "That's when I went back in to record PL3DGE."
It was Twitter that would ultimately get the two friends back in a comfortable place, where they could eventually work together. "He just hit me out on Twitter like six, seven months ago — just outta nowhere like, 'Call me,' " Mike said.
Questioning the authenticity of the tweet, Killer reached out to the Outkast MC's cousin, who later confirmed that it was in fact Big Boi who sent the online olive branch. A couple of days later, Killer Mike and Big Boi were at Club Obsessions in Atlanta performing their 2005 hit "Kryptonite." Big Boi has since appeared on Mike's "Ready Set Go (Remix)" in March.
"We've been in the studio knocking sh-- out, talking every few days," Killer Mike said.
Still, little is known about the group, and while Mike does confirm that they have a name, he is reluctant to announce it just yet, saving that honor for his longtime friend. "Big has a name, but he's holding on to it," Mike said. "I've assigned him group leader."

Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.
By James Montgomery

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.
To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.
According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.
Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).
The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.
It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.
Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.

From Robert Pattinson's hairdo to his love scenes with Reese Witherspoon, MTV News has you covered.

The question for Robert Pattinson wasn't if he would make the leap from "Twilight" vamp to major-studio player but when. The answer came in January 2010, when news broke that the British actor was eyeing a role in Fox's "Water for Elephants." Ever since, MTV News has been following anything and everything connected to the film, an adaptation of Sara Gruen's best-selling novel. Now the movie is set to hit theaters and we're gathering all our coverage into one place for a "Water for Elephants" cheat sheet.
Training
When word broke of Pattinson's intention to play a veterinary student named Jacob in "WFE," Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon was already signed on to play Marlena, a beautiful circus performer who's married yet falls in love with Jacob when he joins the troupe. Sean Penn was originally eyeing the role of Marlena's husband, but the part eventually went to another Oscar winner, .
With Pattinson's new part came a new haircut: Goodbye, Edward Cullen's messy locks, hello Jacob's cropped do.
The first shot of Pattinson in action arrived in June, when a photo of him climbing a train popped up online. More pics followed, including looks at Reese and Rob sharing a smooch.
Paparazzi weren't the only ones paying attention to the production. Fans were everywhere, too.
"The only thing I can compare it to is when Leo was in 'Titanic,' " Witherspoon told MTV News in December. "It was that kind of fervor about a person. The women lining up outside the set — it was just unbelievable — till 5 o'clock in the morning waiting to just glimpse him."
Rehearsal
Shortly after our chat with Reese, Fox released the first "Watermfor Elephants" trailer, highlighting the film's story of a circus-centered love triangle between Jacob, Marlena and Marlena's cruel husband, August/. That, and Rob's many smoldering looks. A second trailer debuted in March, showing a darker tone and, perhaps to lighten the mood, Reese and Rob's kiss.
As the film's release date neared, MTV News announced a live-stream event with Pattinson. The star debuted a new clip from the film and stuck around for a 30-minute chat, touching on everything from cursing on the set of "Breaking Dawn" to an awkward "WFE" love scene with Reese.
"The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold," Pattinson explained. "I'm not generally that awkward doing stuff apart from when I've got my belly coming out. But my nose is running all over the place and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig."
Performance
The live chat wouldn't be our only chance to talk with Rob and the rest of the cast. We met back up with him at a press event a few weeks later. This time around, Pattinson discussed love at first sight (he believes in it) and his preferred circus job (manual labor).
"I find it very satisfying. I like stacking boxes and stuff like that," he said. "And also I looked at all the background guys who were putting up a tent as a part of a scene and they were doing this stuff, like in 'Dumbo,' and it looked like something appealing about that, being a part of this team that creates this town in two days, and it's quite cool. And I like the idea of being the absolute everyman as well."
And, just in case you didn't get enough of RPattz, MTV News presented a live stream from the "Water for Elephants" red carpet in New York. Turns out, Rob barely made it to the event.
"It was a mad rush to get here!" Pattinson said of trying to leave the set of "Breaking Dawn," which wrapped production hours before the premiere. "I was leaving at, like, one o'clock in the morning. They're like, 'C'mon, we need one more shot!' and you've got three people pulling you from either side!"
Check out everything we've got on "Water for Elephants."

Beyonce Gets Fierce In Promo Shot For New Single

Editor's note: Since publishing this story, it has come to our attention that the photo assumed to be of Beyoncé for her new single is actually a fake.
She may have retired Sasha Fierce, but that doesn't mean she's any less fierce. Beyoncé's promo shot for her girl-power anthem, possibly titled "Girls (That Rule the World)," has hit the Internet.
In the close-up, black-and-white snapshot, Beyoncé looks as if she's channeling Grace Jones. Her hair is pulled back sleekly, her mouth is slightly open and her black liquid eye makeup is done up in a funky cat-eye style. She appears to be nude and is wearing black nail polish. The shot first appeared on Twitter. The question "Who run the world?" appears on the poster, with the tease, "Coming Soon."
The photo comes as more and more shots of the music video for the song have hit the Web. On Wednesday, Beyoncé was seen on the set looking like the queen of her own country, with a gigantic crown and flag with the initial "B" on it.
Just a day before, Beyoncé made headlines when she was spotted on a music video set wearing a white Givenchy jumpsuit, faux-hawk and sunglasses. The video will reportedly be directed by Francis Lawrence, who worked with Beyoncé in her Destiny's Child days. He's also worked with Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Pink.
On Thursday, a snippet of the track leaked. It's a feisty club-thumper about the power of being female.
"Love it how we're smart enough to make these millions, strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business," she sings. "Please, you better not play me. Oh, come here, baby/ Hope you still like me, if you pay me."
The tease certainly fit Bey's previous description of the album's vibe. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm inventing a new genre," Beyoncé explained. "I'm mixing every type of genre that I love, and I'm inspired by every type of genre. ... I'm not in a box. It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."

Lady Gaga Apologizes For 'Retarded' Comment
'To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional,' singer says.

When Lady Gaga dropped "Born This Way" earlier this year, the tune immediately drew comparisons to Madonna's "Express Yourself." Shortly after the song was released, Gaga shared with the world that the pop queen liked the song and gave the pop princess her seal of approval.
Now Gaga has once again been asked about the comparisons in a new interview with NME. And she didn't seem pleased by the line of questioning.
"That's retarded. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f---ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means I'm f---ing smart. Sorry."
The issue hit newsstands on Tuesday and by late Wednesday night the singer had issued an apology to her fans about her choice of words when defending herself and the chart-topping tune.
"I consider it part of my life's work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully," she said in a statement to Perezhilton.com. "To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake requires honesty to make."
She then went on to quote some lyrics from the feel-good dance track: "Whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today."
What do you think of Gaga's apology for using the "R" word? Tell us in the comments.

Kara DioGuardi's "Today Show" Visit
Paying a visit to the morning news program, Kara DioGuardi was spotted arriving at the "Today" show at New York City's Rockefeller Plaza earlier today (April 26).
The songwriter looked stunning as she made her way to the studio in a red, belted dress and black strappy heels.
The 40-year-old happened to be promoting her just-released memoir, "A Helluva High Note," where she opened up about the molestation she experienced as a girl. And now Kara says her mother never did a thing about the sexual trauma she endured, telling PopEater that her mother "didn't know how to handle it."
DioGuari continued, "She barely said the word sex and there weren't Oprahs, it was a different time, but in the last month I spoke to my mother's friend's kid and she relayed to me how my mother was speaking to her about it, so I definitely know it weighed on her and I spoke to her about it before she died."
